WELCOME TO OUR WATERWORLD
At de Villiers Yacht Design we strive to create exceptional marine designs for all manner of boats, yachts and small ships, both power or sail.
Over the past 14 years we have developed a varied portfolio of designs which all exhibit common traits such as seaworthiness, practical and efficient construction, cruising comfort, efficient performance underway, eye-catching styling and so on.
This introduction will not bore you with a description of the latest CAD software and computational methods that we employ. We use what is necessary to get the job done, and at the end of the day a successful design is measured by fulfilment of the design brief and the satisfaction of the client.
Intrinsic to a satisfactory end result is how efficiently the builder is able to complete the build and whether our services are required for future builds. We are secure in the knowledge that several boatyards that we are associated with have been building our vessels for close on 10 years.
A word regarding our specialisations and skills. Since the inception of de Villiers Design in July 2000 we have concentrated on marine designs in metal ie. Steel and Aluminium. We are most proficient in these materials and have built up immense experience producing construction detailing and CNC cutting packages for our designs using these materials.
Since 2010 we have been located in the beautiful Bay of Islands in the Far North of New Zealand and we intend to remain in this marine playground for many years to come. Each day the marine environment provides us with inspiration and stimulation for new and varied ways to enjoy and be transported on the water.
We urge you to enjoy your time perusing this site and the many sail and powerboat designs contained herein.

NEWSFLASH – NEW MEMBER OF THE DVDESIGN TEAM
De Villiers Design is excited to announce that as from early September 2016 our team will be joined by Pepijn van Schaik (Manta Marine Design).
Pepijn is emigrating from the Netherlands with his family to work with us in our Bay of Islands (New Zealand) location.
Not only is Pepijn a graduate naval architect, he also brings with him more than a decade of diverse marine design experience.
Just like my own early efforts, Pepijn has built one of his own sailboat designs (Bornrif 33-pictured here) and thus has a practical approach which is central to our design philosophy. In addition, Pepijn has logged thousands of miles under sail, including having crewed on the 56 metre bark “Europa” from Holland to Antarctica.
We have been collaborating with Manta Marine Design for almost a year now on several diverse projects such as the Legacy 70 Motoryacht, amongst others. We are looking forward to being able to offer a complete naval architectural service in addition to our experience as yacht designers.
